Park aviary all set for makeover
Stonefield Park’s aviary will get a £15,000 makeover after its refurbishment was backed by local residents in a consultation run by Stafford Borough Council.
People living near the park were asked back in March if they wanted to see the aviary refurbished or removed – and refurbishment came out on top by a decisive 45 votes to 1.
£15,000 was allocated to refurbish the aviary – which has seen better days – in the borough council’s capital budget for 2012/13, the element of a local authority’s budget that is funded by borrowing.
The Council’s Community Scrutiny Committee discussed the report at their meeting on 19th June and resolved that, under powers delegated to it, the refurbishment should go ahead. Work is set to start in October or November after the nesting season.
