Tourism Awards see Staffordshire Businesses Going for Gold

Nearly 100 Staffordshire businesses are going head to head across the county in a bid to be crowned Staffordshire’s best tourism business, including 15 businesses from Stafford Borough.

enjoystaffs_vertical_blue_logo-100x106In the midst of a tourism boom, with almost 25 million people from home and abroad enjoying day or overnight trips to the area, the 2016 NFU Mutual Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism Awards will see businesses compete against each other, and the winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at Alton Towers Resort on Tuesday 15th November 2016.

logoCategories include Large Visitor Attraction of the Year and the Inclusive Tourism Award, both of which local new guys Flip Out Stoke are in the running for, going head to head in the Large Visitor category with other local attraction Trentham Monkey Forest. The Monkey Forest is also a finalist, alongside Stone Food & Drink Festival & Stafford’s Discovery Trails in the Experience of the Year section.

moddershalloaksAnother local organisation, Lymestone Brewery is up for Guided Tour of the Year, whilst Moddershall Oaks is vying for the Business Tourism award and Restaurant of the Year against Milford’s Viceroy Indian Restaurant. Amongst the 8 pubs competing for Pub of the Year are Stone’s local The Borehole, the Red Lion in Bradley and the Sun Inn in Stafford.

canalside-2015-logoMore food based awards are Tea Room of the Year, fought for by Great Haywood’s Canalside Farm Shop, and Food Retailer of the Year could go toBrown & Green from the Trentham Estate.

colton-houseColton House in Rugeley is hoping for a hat trick being shortlisted for Boutique Guest Accommodation of the Year Award, as well as the Sustainable Tourism Award, and the Business Tourism Award, whilst the Self Catering Property of the Year award has Ingestre Lodges fighting for top spot.

The ceremony is hosted by BBC Midlands Today presenter Joanne Malin, and starts at 12noon and finishes around 4pm. Gold Award winners in 15 of the 20 categories will go on to represent Staffordshire at the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in Spring 2017.

Tickets for the event are still available for Staffordshire tourism businesses. Priced at £30 each, they include a three-course buffet lunch and reception drinks.
