Mansion House Surgery £1.1 million Expansion Opens

An opening ceremony for the new extension at the Mansion House Surgery was held on Thursday 1st December.

The six additional consulting rooms and a new treatment room as well as improved parking facilities will benefit the 13,500 registered patients, allowing the practice to expand the mix of skills within the clinical team

In addition to GP’s, practice nurses and healthcare assistants, the practice now has a team of three advanced nurse practitioners, and a clinical prescribing pharmacist.

The extension was jointly funded through NHS England’s Estates and Technology Transformation Fund, which provided £765,588 towards the project, with the remaining funding coming from the surgery partners.

Head of Primary Care for NHS England, North Midlands (Shropshire and Staffordshire) Rebecca Woods said: ’It’s great to see this investment in one of Stone’s busiest surgeries. GP practices across the country and their patients have benefitted greatly from the funding provided by NHS England as part of the Primary Care Investment Fund and investment will continue in the future under new schemes to ensure that GP surgeries are fully equipped and are able to provide the best care to patients.’’

Patients and staff are delighted with the changes, Nikki Evans, a member of the surgery’s Patient Participation Group remarked: ‘It is exciting to see the finished building, having been a part of the process since the initial plans were drawn up. The working conditions for staff before the extension were far too cramped and this additional space has been much needed for a long time. Patients will be able to benefit from the additional space for services and additional parking.’

Dr Simon Ceresa added:

‘It is a wonderful feeling that we can get settled into our new extension. This will allow us to provide a wider range of services to patients and allow more outside services to use the space as well.’
