The second annual Spring Fair is to be hosted at Sandon Hall on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May 2017, following the event’s success last year.
Run in partnership with the team behind the Stone Food & Drink Festival, Sandon Spring Fair attracted some 2,500 visitors in 2016 despite taking place on a somewhat damp and grey April weekend. Aiming to avoid weather dampening spirits, the later dates should hopefully provide sun & smiles.
General Manager at Sandon Hall, Cheryl Millward, explains: “Spring is a magical time at Sandon Hall, so it’s lovely to be able to welcome in visitors and share the beauty of the house and gardens. The spring fair provides a brilliant platform to do this and we were delighted with the success of the first event last year. However, the weather did let us down slightly, with below average temperatures and showers throughout the weekend, so we’ve taken the decision this year to move the event to late May to make the most of the rising temperatures.”
Visitors will be able to enjoy talks and demonstrations on topics including craft and cookery alongside tastings of artisan food and drink in the demonstration tent, in addition to browsing a host of craft and food stalls and explore the hall’s 50 acres of formal garden in all its springtime glory.
Families are well catered for with friendly farm animals to meet, fairground rides, face painting, craft activities and a spring treasure trail on offer, whilst live music and dance displays throughout the weekend will keep the crowds entertained.
A host of street food stalls will provide visitors with plenty of choice whilst sit down afternoon teas will also be on offer for those that have worked up an appetite. Licensed bars selling everything from locally brewed ales to wine, G&Ts and continental beers will ensure there’s something for every taste with teas and speciality coffees also readily available.
History buffs, meanwhile, are in for a treat – last year’s house tours proved so popular that they are back for 2017 in a more formal, longer format offering a further rare glimpse behind the scenes at this historic private home. Due to demand, advance booking is essential.
