Costa Stone and local community support Autism Awareness Week

Costa Coffee - StoneAs part of Autism Awareness Week (27th March 2017 – 2nd April 2017) Costa Coffee in Stone High Street carried out a variety of events and activities to raise awareness and money for charity

Anita Lawton, store manager for Stone said:

We would like to thank all the local businesses, shops and residents of Stone that helped to raise £700 for charity. There were over £400 worth of raffle prizes kindly donated by local Stone businesses and furthermore we could not have made such an impact and brought awareness without you; the community.

This has been an amazing community result and I’m proud to be a part of Stone!

What is Autism?

Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them.

This section explains some of the different names for autism and related conditions, and provides information about gender, discussions about causes and current research.

Around 700,000 people in the UK are on the autism spectrum. Together with their families, this means autism is a part of daily life for 2.8 million people.

Find out about diagnosing autism (including Asperger syndrome), and the impact on people and their families, and find advice and support on all aspects of life with autism.
