SCSL Division One

Stone Dominoes signed off their home campaign in the perfect way by securing promotion to the Staffordshire County Senior League Premier Division on Saturday.
Despite being frustrated by the visitors for 45 minutes a second half brace from Jules Paterson and a Danny Glover strike ensured the scoreline had a more comfortable look to it in the end.
Joint-manager Dom Ryder was quick to heap praise on his players after the victory.
“I thought we were excellent all over the park,” said Ryder.
Drayton came with a game plan and made themselves difficult to break down. After going in at half time goalless despite our dominance the lads remained patient and got the rewards that their quality deserved in the second 45.”
Ryder was understandably pleased with the fact that the target of promotion had been reached but challenged his players to finish the job now.
“Obviously we’re delighted to get promotion secured but winning the title must now be the goal.”
Dominoes were without Endon Adams, Marcus Thorp, Chris Nellis and Jack Steele for the game with Ryan Mayer and Ash Thompson fit enough to return to the side.
The hosts were close to going ahead in the 5th minute when Danny Thompson spun and curled a brilliant effort that struck the post with Ash Thompson putting the rebound over the crossbar.
Market Drayton were content to stay patient and hit their opponents on the break but were almost caught out in the 40th minute when Paterson capitalised on a mistake only to see Stuart Robertson save well.
The deadlock was almost broken on the stroke of half time when a long pass from Ryan Parkes picked out Danny Glover but he too was denied well low down by Robertson.
Robertson again denied Paterson in the early stages of the second half when he reacted quickly to save with his feet at the near post.
Dominoes struck the upright for the second time in the game in the 52nd minute when Ash Thompson’s corner evaded everyone to cannon off the foot of the post.
The home side and Paterson finally found a way through in the 56th minute as Ash Thompson released him behind the visiting defence to slide the ball under Robertson into the net.
The lead was doubled just 3 minutes later when Paterson again found himself through on goal after a Mark James pass before lifting the ball brilliantly over a diving Robertson for his second of the afternoon.
As the away side pushed for a way back into the game Dominoes all but put the game to bed in the 74th minute when Danny Glover drilled the ball into the bottom corner from 18 yards out.
Paterson had chance to compete his hat-trick with 5 minutes remaining when he found himself one on one with Robertson but the Market Drayton goalkeeper came out on top.
Danny Glover almost doubled his tally in the last minute but Robertson was on hand to claw his free kick out of the top corner and push it over the crossbar.
With promotion now guaranteed Dominoes will travel to second-placed Foley on Wednesday knowing a victory will mean that they finish the season as champions.
