Trust’s HQ Hosts Fascinating World of Bats

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust has teamed up with Staffordshire Bat Group, and is inviting nature lovers who want to find out more about one of Britain’s most fascinating nocturnal mammals to join a series of moonlit walks at the wildlife charity’s headquarters.

The Trust’s Wolseley Centre base, near Rugeley will host a series of bat walks on Friday 16th June and Saturday 15th July between 9pm-11pm and on Friday 18th August between 8pm-10.30pm. The centre is home to a number of bat species including common and soprano pipistrelle, daubentons and noctule.

Sam Pachner, Conference and Events Officer at the Trust, said: “As well as being set in 26 acres of grounds, The Wolseley Centre has a number of bat boxes these amazing creatures can make a home in, so there’s a great chance people who attend the walks will see a good number of them.”

Participants will be introduced to bat detectors, devices that allow us to hear the ultrasonic sounds that bats make as they fly and hunt. The Wolseley Centre is located on the A51 between Stafford and Rugeley.

The cost for each walk is £3 and proceeds raised will go towards the work of Staffordshire Bat Group and Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. Booking is essential. To book a place or for more information call the Trust on 01889 880100.
