A farm attraction near Penkridge is set to celebrate the 40years of Star Wars this summer with a Millennium Falcon-themed Maize Maze
Families are being challenged to help save the galaxy from the ‘Bark Side’ as they take on the maze, which has been taken over by the evil Emperor, his sidekick Bark Vader and their army of mutant sheep. A series of clues, tasks and challenges must be completed to find the Emperor, break the menace of ‘The Bark Side’ and liberate the sheep once and for all, with the chance for anyone who completes the task to enter an exciting prize draw.
The Maize Maze will launch on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July with the chance to meet characters from the fantasy all weekend souvenir photos on offer when they’ve conquered the maze! For those unable to attend the launch, the maze will be open daily throughout the holidays alongside the farm’s other attractions, but avid Star Wars fans are advised to visit on ‘Feel the Force’ Thursdays, when characters from the saga will be around to meet, greet and pose for photos. Farmer Ray Bower says:
“Star Wars is the ultimate Sci Fi fantasy so we couldn’t let its 40th anniversary go unmarked – we are hugely excited about this, our most complex maize maze design to date, and we’re sure that alongside the game it will keep visitors busy for a good while!”
Once visitors have completed the Maize Maze there’s still plenty to see and do at the farm, with friendly animals to meet, a fun yet educational tractor trailer ride, adventure playground with zipwire and grass sledges, nature trail, woodland walk, themed craft activities and – weather dependent – pony rides.
Lower Drayton Farm’s Maize Maze will be open daily from Saturday 29th July through to Friday 1st September. Over the launch weekend on 29th and 30th July and every Thursday of the summer holidays, visitors dressed as characters from ‘Star Wars’ will get in for half price.
