FootGolf Comes to Stone

Staffordshire’s new FootGolf facility is now open at Norton Bridge, near Stone, in a partnership between Flip Out Stoke & Norton Bridge Golf Club.

The new sport, a cross between golf and football, was launched in Staffordshire recently giving people of all ages the chance to experience the unique sport.

The Footgolf programme has been launched by businessmen Matthew Melling and Elliott Shuttleworth of Flip Out Stoke and Andy Dennis at Norton Bridge Golf Club, which is located just a five-minute drive from the popular trampoline arena in Stone.

FootGolf course comprises 18 football-sized holes and the game involves players avoiding obstacles such as bunkers, trees and water to complete the course in the fewest number of kicks, using a football instead of a golf ball. Visitors can book to play the course from 1.30pm daily throughout the summer, with families, football teams and groups all welcome to try it out. Players can choose to play nine holes for £10 or 18 holes for £12.

The new partnership will see the FootGolf programme delivered by Andy Dennis and his team at Norton Bridge Golf Club, whilst ticketing, bookings and promotion will be carried out by Flip Out Stoke.

Elliott Shuttleworth, managing director at Flip Out trampoline park in Stone, said: “We’re really proud to sponsor Andy and his team to bring another great sport and leisure activity to people in Stone and Staffordshire. At Flip Out, we’re all about finding awesome ways for families and friends to get active together, and FootGolf is a great example of that.”

Andy Dennis is the owner of Norton Bridge Golf Club, formally Izaak Walton Golf Club. He adds: “FootGolf has grown in popularity across the country over the last few years and this programme is about making the unique sport more accessible to people in the local area. It’s great fun, whether it’s something to do with the family or with your mates. You don’t have to be good at golf or good at football, it’s just a great morning or afternoon out doing something different.”

Footgolf Stone can be found at Norton Bridge Golf Club, just off the B5066 Stone to Eccleshall Road. Bookings for FootGolf Stone can be made via the website at www.footgolfstone.co.uk or by calling 01785 719933. Follow @FootGolfStone on Facebook.
