As part of the forthcoming Ginger and Spice Festival in Market Drayton, participants in the Pickles Spice Trail are in with a chance of winning a two night stay for two people, in Pézenas in the South of France, plus vouchers towards flights, and dinner for two at Pickles Restaurant Market Drayton.
Taking place in Shropshire from Wednesday 27th to Saturday 30th September 2017, the Pickles Spice Trail will be available for all festival goers to take part in and will be taking place from Wednesday 27th to Saturday 30th September.
The trail, which will be self-led by a leaflet guide, will take participants on a culinary journey of discovery around the town of Market Drayton, and will include interesting food and drink related facts as well as historical information about the food/drink heritage of the town. There will also be opportunities for sampling and tasting in the local businesses who are taking part in the trail such as wine tasting at Jones’s Coffee House and chocolate tasting at Adelaide’s Chocolaterie.
Trail participants must answer all 14 questions on the trail guide and submit their answer forms no later than Tuesday 10th October 17 to be in with a chance of winning. A winner and runner up will be picked at random by the sponsors Pickles Restaurant and the Market Drayton Twinning Association. The runners up prize of a box of beer and silver plaited gingerbread charm necklace has been donated by sponsors Joules Brewery and HMS Jewellery.
The main prize of a two night stay at Le Gite Piscenois, in Pézenas, France has been sponsored by Pézenas residents, Monsieur Eric Badou and Madame Paule-Marie through the Market Drayton/Pézenas Twinning Association.
The Market Drayton twinning association secretary, Mrs Alison Bates, said;
‘We are absolutely delighted that two residents of out twinned town of Pézenas, Monsieur Eric Badou and Madame Paule-Marie have so kindly sponsored this prize draw of a two night stay for two in their beautiful Gite. The twinning between Market Drayton and Pézenas has been established now for over 20 years, yet many Draytonians are not aware of this historical and current relationship. We hope that by sponsoring this festival, and spice trail around the town, we will attract more twinning members, spread the word about what we do, and cement further relationships with our French neighbours, enabling more opportunities for learning about each others’ cultures.’
Pickles Restaurant who are also the main sponsors have offered a meal for two people, plus have included a special promotional discount voucher for all participants on the trail guide to use before the end of October 2017. Trail guides can be picked up from Saturday 23rd September 17 at participating retail outlets and businesses within the town, plus the Town Council building and Market Drayton Tourist Information Centre at 49a Cheshire Street.
The businesses taking part in the Pickles Spice Trail are as follows:
Sherwood Wholefoods; Adelaide’s Chocolaterie; The Buttercross Tearooms; HMS Jewellery; Jones’s Coffee House; The Red Lion/Joules Brewery; The Little Tea Room; The Market Drayton Museum and Resource Centre; Market Drayton Country Markets and the Clive and Coffyne Pub.
