On Tuesday October 25th 2016, we lost our lovely, kind, and thoughtful son Josh. He had been struggling with depression and took his own life whilst we were trying but struggling to get him the support he needed and deserved.
We have been overwhelmed with support and kindness from the local community both when Josh was missing and after he was found and we are sincerely grateful for this.
In the UK Suicide is the leading cause of death of all young people and men under the age of 50, yet experts agree it is preventable.
This Saturday 7th October 2017 we have organised a HOPEWalk. This starts at 10am at Stone Tennis Club ST15 8LD
We are walking in memory of Josh around the local area to help give HOPE to other people and let them know there is support available and people who care. We want to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with poor mental health and suicide.
There are two walks available – an 8 mile countryside walk and a 3 mile local and canal walk. All welcome to attend, great for families and you could enjoy the food festival at the same time.
We are also having a stand in the town to raise awareness with information available and a collection for two excellent charities; Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide.
