Parent Teacher Associations are a fantastic way for parents and guardians to get involved in their local schools through voluntary support and fundraising activities
We recently caught up with St. Michael’s First School PTA to hear what they’re up to as the Autumn term is filled with activities that encompass bonfire night and Christmas!
The St. Michael’s PTA has a long standing relationship with the Stone Bonfire and Firework night, and this year is no exception! A team of volunteers will be donning their thermals to help and assist with the stewarding and cash collection at this years event on Saturday 4th November 2017.
Despite it only being October the PTA have had to utter the C word as they make plans preparations for the festive period. St Michael’s CE (VC) First School we will be holding a Christmas Market event on Tuesday 21st November 2017 from 3.30pm to 6pm in the School Hall. Everyone is encouraged to go along and grab a few gifts, listen to the superb choir, and join in some festive cheer! There are a lot of local businesses busily getting ready for the event and it would be lovely to see everyone there.
Every year the school also take part in the Christingle Service at St Michael and St Wulfad’s Church and it won’t be long before the children will be busy making over 300 Christingle oranges to share with all those at the service. Last year was a treat seeing the children share in the moment as they light the candles and everyone who attended got to take home a Christingle.
There’s no time to rest for the children of St Michael’s CE (VC) though as the years 4 take to the high street to unveil the first of the towns advent windows on 1st December 2017.
The PTA will also be organising the school Christmas discos for the children before helping Santa and the Round Table out on Santa’s annual wave-by around Aston Park Estate on Sunday 17th December 2017. (Full dates and details of the Santa Tour will be published later)
With all of these events you’re sure to see St. Michael’s PTA and school staff out and about, in and around, Stone in the next few months. Give them a wave as they spread some festive cheer along the way.
The PTA and school would love to see you all at one of the events that they are a part of as they would love the children of St Michael’s CE (VC) First School to see the value in being part of the community, just as they do!
