In the search for talented young singer-actors aged 14+ for its forthcoming production of Spring Awakening, Stone Youth Theatre will hold the first of two pre-audition workshops this month.
The first workshop will take place on 12th December followed by another on 11th January; both at Stone’s Rooftop Studios from 7.30pm – 9.30pm.
Set in 19th Century Germany, the rock musical first hit Broadway in 2006. Based on 1891 German play of the same name by Frank Wedekind, it centres on teenage sexuality with a blazing folk-rock score. Due to its mature content, the production is seeking cast members aged 14+ as studio director, Laura Keeling, explains:
“Spring Awakening is a classic choice for a Youth Theatre production – despite being set in the 19th Century the themes are as relevant today as they were then and, rather than play adult roles, the cast will be of a similar age to the characters they are portraying. We’re really excited to bring this show to the Rep Theatre in May next year, so will be holding two pre-audition workshops to help give auditionees some context and feel fully prepared for the auditions on 14th January.”
Spring Awakening will run at the Stoke Rep Theatre from May 2nd – 5th 2018. Those interested in attending either audition workshop should email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information or call 01785 761233.
