Recycling and Bin Collections Christmas 2017-18

The borough council have a backlog of bins to empty due to the winter weather

Stone residents are advised to use the previously issued bin collection calendars for changes or view your collection calendar using the Borough Council’s Postcode Search.

With 3 bank holidays there’s a need for collection days to be re-scheduled to ensure that the bin collections can still be made.

Residents are reminded to ensure their bins are out for collection by 7.00am on the revised days of collection.

Here’s some further advice from the Borough Council:

Do You Recycle All You Can?

Think Blue Bin It!

Please continue to reduce your waste and recycle as much as possible over the festive period. The Council has arranged a special collection of extra cardboard only for the first scheduled collection of the blue bin after Christmas. Cardboard tied in a bundle (not bagged) neatly placed at the side of the blue bin will be collected in addition to your blue wheeled bin.

If you need more space for your recycling the paper caddy may be put at the side of the blue bin for collection. If the caddy is placed at the side of the bin the contents must be put into recyclable carrier bags (these will not be returned to the property).

Please ensure that only compostable garden waste and Christmas Trees that are cut into small enough pieces are placed in the brown bin. If the bin contains unsuitable material it will not be collected.

You can help the environment by taking your Christmas tree to the following sites between Tuesday 2 January and Tuesday 9 January 2018 to be collected and recycled:-

  1. Had a near miss at Stone Recycling Centre this morning. While I was throwing some general waste into the skip, I was nearly hit on the head by an inconsiderate person behind me who threw away his waste item by sending it whizzing into the skip just inches from my right ear! Had I turned my head I would have copped it! A queueing system is needed!
