Stone Christmas – The Star Inn

The Star Inn Christmas Stone

New licensees Dom and Becky Plant would like to extend a warm welcome to The Star, a traditional canal-side pub with a hearty menu and quality drinks to be enjoyed in a friendly atmosphere.

Having both worked and lived in Stone, they are very familiar with the pub and the town. They’ve spent the past two years at a pub in Lancashire, where they served a traditional pub menu with friendly and welcoming service. They have moved back home to be closer to our friends and family – and have big plans for The Star in the New Year.

Before that comes Christmas, though!

The Christmas Fayre menu gets under way on 16th November and you can also book a table for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Call 01785 813096. The menus are available on The Star website.

Becky says: “We have some very exciting plans to refurbish the pub and return it to its former glory. Our plans are for a sympathetic refurbishment to incorporate both a traditional style and clean modern feel for our plans for a brand new restaurant menu that will centre around the best quality burgers, mouth-watering steaks and fresh salads all at a great value and in generous portions. Personality-led service is important for us and all our customers should feel right at home when they visit The Star. We will be adding more details for our planned refurbishment and new menu to our website and updating Facebook regularly so make sure you keep your eyes peeled.
“In the meantime, you can enjoy traditional pub grub and we will present the pub in the best way we possibly can with a warm, clean and comfortable atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble. The refurbishment is planned for the New Year but first we have Christmas to enjoy. We have lots of plans to make The Star the place to be this winter so please keep an eye out for upcoming events and offers for the festive period.”

The Star Christmas Stone

Dom is a Stafford-lad born and bred he undertook his apprenticeship in Stone with an engineering firm and enjoyed a long career with them until he and Becky got married and decided to embark on a new adventure as a publicans. He enjoyed his first ever legal pint in The Star many years ago. Since then he’s made quality beer and cask his priority and you’ll either find him behind the bar, walking the dog or watching Top Gear!

Becky’s family are from Eccleshall where her parents still reside. She has lived in a few places across the country and studied in Liverpool before returning to her parent’s home town and meeting Dom. A member of the Girl Guiding Association, you may well recognise her from her days as a young leader in Stone and later a Guider in Eccleshall. Having honed her chef skills in their previous pub you’ll either find her in the kitchen, in front of a spreadsheet or with her head buried in her phone – but don’t be fooled, she’s quite a sociable character really!

Their daughters Chloe, 12, and one-year-old Sophie are bound to be seen about the pub on a regular basis. Chances are they’ll be trying to earn a bit of extra pocket money, so please tip generously!
