Stafford Castle will be providing the backdrop for a new event for all the family in July.
Different types of street food will be on offer with cuisines from authentic Caribbean dishes to Vietnamese and Thai style foods. Activities get underway at 12 noon with pop up street food stalls and licenced bars available until the event closes at 7pm.
Organisers of the Summer Sunday promise a festival atmosphere including street theatre and an acoustic tent featuring some of the best talent in the area. It costs £5 for those over 12 years old with younger children free. Car parking on the Castle site is £5 for the day.
The castle, managed by the Borough Council, has dominated the Stafford skyline for more than 900 years having been built on the instructions of William the Conqueror. It provides the dramatic backdrop to the internationally recognised Shakespeare Festival as well as other popular events such as the Classic Car Show.
Norman Jones, Head of Policy and Improvement at the Borough Council, said: “The event has been designed to help the whole family chill out and have a relaxing afternoon in the grounds of the town’s most famous landmark.
“It is a new event to the 2017 calendar and we hope the range of activities on the day will provide some fantastic entertainment for children, families and friends.”
