The Inn Ringers staged their 40th Anniversary Concert on the 25th June at Meir Heath Village Hall to a sell out audience.
The bell ringing team performed a wide range of music from their 40 year repertoire, in the presence of Stone Town Mayor and Mayoress Cllr Jim Davies and Mrs Lin Davies. Tunes included – Liberty Bell, On Parade, RAF March Past and the Carmen Overture. There was plenty of opportunity for the audience to join in with more popular tunes like Georgie Girl, Sing A Rainbow and Delilah.
Several ex-team members were invited to play the ‘Waltz from Iolanthe’ – and they made a superb job of it, they played as if they had never been away from the team and for some it was over 10 years since they rang a bell, and MD and compere Paul Mellor provided some anecdotes from the team’s 40 years together. The whole concert was well received by the audience.
Paul said ‘I would like to thank all those who came to the concert – the audience created a great atmosphere and I sure everyone enjoyed the concert as much as we did’.
There was a celebration cake made especially for the occasion which Paul admitted ‘it was too good to cut’! The team are saving it for their next practice night when they will reflect on the concert and share the audience feedback.
The concert was in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and raised over £700. Well done to all involved!
