Stafford Borough Council have today announced that they are making the council run car parks free for afternoon shoppers in Stone
Following our report that Stone Town Council has agreed a deal to operate a FREE car park at the rear of the former Stone Police Station, Stafford Borough Council has today said that once again they’ll be making their car parks free from 1pm on the 16th December and the 23rd December.
The free parking offer aims to encourage more people to shop in the town and to boost trade for local businesses over the festive season.
The free parking period applies to all car borough council run parks in Stone town centre and will allow shoppers to enjoy Stones great mix of shops, cafes and restaurants.
The town holds its monthly craft and collectables market in the High Street on Saturday 16 December, giving a chance to snap up some unique Christmas gifts.
Councillor Frances Beatty, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration, said:
“Whether people are shopping for gifts, festive food and drink or going for a seasonal lunch, they can do so and not have to pay to park on these two afternoons. Stone town centre has so much to offer and I urge people in the Borough to shop local for Christmas this year.”
Most borough council car parks offer cash free parking throughout the year so visitors to the town centres can pay for their parking using their mobile phones, and top it up without having to return to their cars.
