Wow, a night that we’ll “Never Forget” as we went along to see The Band at The Regent Theatre

OK so let’s firstly kick off by explaining that although the musical is based around the music of Take That it’s actually a story about 5 girl superfans of the band Take That!

The girls friendship is a real sisterhood and the story is told through Rachel as you follow her and the girls from childhood to womanhood.

The story is truly engaging and full of highs, that will leave you with aching sides, as well as tear inducing lows.  Tissues are our top tip for wiping the tears away and these will be a mix of tears of laughter and the tears of sadness.

The production was been written by the fantastically talented Tim Firth, of Calendar Girls fame, and is far from a run of the mill “covers musical”
The band themselves have no dialogue throughout the production but instead deliver reworked versions of many of the Take That hits alongside the story line.

The audience were incredibly animated throughout the entire performance. From clapping and singing to standing ovations at the end of each act, this is a real “join in” production that left everyone with a smile on their face!

Staging wise we were blown away by the versatility of the sets and the surprises that popped up throughout!

If you wanted a show to Never Forget then the finale is something that delivers by the bucket load! A brilliant rendition of this Take That classic had everyone up, clapping their hands, and singing along…….a magical finish to a most thoroughly entertaining show!

The Band will be running at the Regent Theatre until Saturday 9th December 2017. Visit the Theatres website for more information on the show times and to book alternatively you can call the box office on 0844 871 7649.
