Review: Thriller Has Us Blaming It On The Boogie!

A cold evening in Hanley saw us braving the sleet to enter a world of colour & disco beats for Thriller Live.

As the curtain comes up all thoughts of snow are gone, and we begin a journey through the life of a musical genius. Starting with his time with the Jackson 5, moving through the soul, Motown and disco years, to his time as the King of 90’s Pop, and ending with the title track of his most successful album, Thriller Live is a high energy concert-esque view of the music magic of Michael Jackson.

Outstanding vocals from all the stars, and the signature dancing moves meant that at times it was easy to forget that the man himself is no longer with us. A particular highlight for me, Rory Taylor’s rendition of “She’s Out of My Life” left me with goosebumps and a tingle down my spine, whilst Adriana Louise won over my daughter hitting many high notes with ease!

The trio of “Man in the Mirror”, “They Don’t Care About Us”, and “Earth Song” were powerful and poignant. We were dancing in the aisles through a lot of the show, but especially in the finale mash up of “Smooth Criminal” and “Thriller” and we left with still singing the famous refrains.

A toe-tappingly good show, highly recommended to shake off the post-Christmas blues and leave you blaming it on the boogie!

Thriller Live will be running at the Regent Theatre until Sunday 20th January 2017. Visit the Theatres website for more information on the show times and to book atgtickets.com/stoke alternatively you can call the box office on 0844 871 7649.
