This year’s Stone Festival revs up with the exciting soapbox derby down Stone High Street
The soapbox derby has become a real crowd puller in its previous two years of running. Thousands of people have turned up for the 2016 and 2017 events and its hoped that 2018 will be a record-breaking year!
For the third annual event, the team behind the event have again tweaked the format to enhance the racing and spectator experience.
The event will take place on Bank Holiday Monday on the 28th May 2018, with activities starting from 1:30 pm and racing from 2:00 pm.
Up to 50 soapbox teams will bring their soapboxes and racecraft to entertain the crowds.
New course features for 2018 are:
A new water feature
A speed trap to see what speeds the soapboxes are making
New jump arrangements to shake things up!
The format will remain the same with each team has to do two timed runs of the course. For the second run, a different team member must take over the driving duties!
