Encourage Festival is a local mini music and arts festival celebrating that we are all called to play our part in God’s kingdom in a whole variety of ways on Saturday 7th July 2018.
Sally Phillips, comedian, actor and documentary maker (Miranda, Smack the Pony, A World without Downs Syndrome?) will be this year’s main guest speaker.
The music line-up is headlined by the roof-raising Goat Roper Rodeo Band and stunning duo, Rue Royale
A unique highlight is The Junk Orchestra, a marvellously inventive ensemble of musical instruments made from rubbish. Workshops will demonstrate how anyone can build their own orchestra for nothing,
Twenty-strong youth band, Wildfire Folk Christian trio, Anam Caras and the Shrewsbury Youth Gospel Choir complete the line-up.
Cookery Demonstrations throughout the day showcase the art of getting “Taste without Waste”.
The Love Food Hate Waste Roadshow, hosted by TV chef and beer expert Richard Fox, gives even the thriftiest cook food for thought.
Local award-winning chef, Sanjeev, of Sanjeev’s Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent shares his expert knowledge of Indian cuisine in a hotly contested Ready Steady Cook style challenge.
Mandy Hawkes from the surplus food redistribution charity, FareShare explains how they save thousands of tons of food from ending in landfill, while Anna Pitt from Zero Waste Week and author of 101 Ways to Live Cleaner and Greener for Free, shares the highs and lows of a year without single-use plastic.
Refreshments will be available at the ever popular Rambling Rev’s Real Ale Bar featuring real ales from local breweries and ciders made from windfalls.
Added attractions include Revs, a unique collection of vintage vehicles and a variety of stalls selling delicious foods and showcasing local artists, upcycled gifts, crafts, woodworking, face painting and more.
