Pirehill First School competition and Summer Fair

Pirehill First SchoolThis year Pirehill First School, on Tilling Drive in Stone, has run its first ever “Summer Fair” poster competition

The theme for the competition centred around the children’s vision and ideas about the Pirehill Summer Fair.
As the biggest fund raiser of the year Caroline Beeston, Chairperson of the PTA said,
“We wanted to open up the competition to both KS1 and KS2 children who attend the school, with a winner being selected from each year group and then an overall winner being chosen from those the age range was from 4 to 9 years.
Each winner received a WH Smiths voucher and some other goodies with the overall winner having his or hers poster go to print.
The winners were chosen by Headteacher Mrs Karen Williamson Smith and Office Manager Sarah Forrest. This year’s winner was Layla Brian aged 8 in class 8.
When asked where her inspiration came from Layla said it was an idea she had for some different stalls a separate lucky dip for boys and girls, she also wanted to include the Pirehill logo. When asked what she liked about school she replied “I love being in Mr Humphrey’s class as he makes the lessons fun, but we always work hard “Layla also comment that she loved the new Buddy Bench area on the playground which was purchased by the PTA from all it fund raising; it has been brighten up by the schools Gardening Club, School Council and Eco Club.
Other winners had their prizes presented by Deputy Head Mrs Kate Proffit and those winners were Seth Healy in class 1 , Lauren Peck in class 4, a year 2 winner , Layla Brian in class and Owen Yoxall in class 10.”
The Summer Fair kicks off on Friday 6th July 2018 at 4pm with stalls run by the school children themselves, a BBQ, cream teas, rainbow raffles, the tombola and lots more.
Stoke City Pottermus will also be there along with local rugby club Eccleshall who are looking for more young players to join. So, go along and join in the fun!
