Free mental health and well-being training in Stone

Mental Health IssuesA new community project has been set up to help young people in the local area to feel good and live well

Alleyne’s Academy is working in partnership with, the Staffordshire Public Health team, the Hope Project and Friends of Josh to find new ways of supporting students, staff members and parents. The project aims to make people more aware of the importance of good mental wellbeing, not just for ourselves but for others as well.

The Hope Project, led by Rachel Raynor, has a long waiting list of schools in other areas but has been fully funded in Stone for 2018/19 as a pilot to extend the training to a community-wide initiative. The Hope training seeks to support schools to develop their knowledge and skills around mental health and identify mental health champions who can ensure that the learning can be shared with others. Ongoing supervision is fully funded through this project.

Alleyne’s Academy will be supporting two members of staff to attend the Hope Project 4 day training course which will start in September 2018. Local middle and primary school involvement in attending staff training and identifying mental health champions is vital to the success of this project. Any local schools who have not already signed up for the training, please use the contact information below.

The project is also keen to hear from any parents, or members of the community and community group leads, particularly young peoples groups, who might be interested in being a volunteer mental health champion and can give their time to attend the training course. The team are looking for anyone who may be interested in attending the training and letting us know what they think and how they might wish to share or use the learning to help others.

The hope is that by providing support and training networks for schools, community groups and parents/carers that young people and the general community will be better supported and any needs or gaps in support in this area will be identified.

For more information and to register interest in attending the free training and ongoing supervision for school staff, school parent volunteers and community groups please contact Rachel by email to Hopeproject2016@outlook.com

  1. Hi I am a NLP Life Coach working in Stone, and for a long time now I have held a belief that teaching children how to look after their mental health is the answer to a happy successful life. I would very much like to donate my time to help this amazing project. If you have a space for the training I would love to take part.
