“Through the eyes of a child” showcases hopscotch, spinning tops, hobby horses and whip and tops amongst other period toys at the Ancient High House in Stafford until 24 October. The touring exhibition is encouraging young visitors to explore different aspects of childhood and how it has changed over time.

Youngsters can sit at a Victorian school desk or become the teacher, try their hand at design and weaving activities or dress up. There will also be an art display of children’s favourite toys.

Created by Vertigo on behalf of the Staffordshire Museum Service, the exhibition is supported by Arts Council England.

Gill Heath, Cabinet Member for Communities at Staffordshire County Council said: “This is a really fun exhibition and I’m pleased that people in Stafford are getting the chance to see it.  Not only will it bring back memories for some older visitors, but I’m sure some of the younger children will find it quite amusing that in the past these where the toys of the time.”

The exhibition is now at the Ancient High House in Stafford and available during usual opening times. For more information go to http://staffordmuseums.co.uk/exhibitions/
