Stone Town Council plans High Street Coronation Party for King Charles III

street partyStone Town Council has announced that it is planning a Coronation party in the High Street to celebrate the official Coronation of King Charles III. The event will take place on Sunday, 7th May 2023, the day after the King’s official Coronation.

Running from 12:30pm until 5:00pm, the free-to-access family fun day will feature a headline performance by top ABBA tribute band Bjorn UK, supported by local bands Head Over Heels, Vinyl Overdrive and Murphy’s Marbles, with the Stone Choral Society opening the event.

Food and drink will be available from the excellent range of High Street pubs and restaurants, supported by a number of specialist traders.

Children’s entertainment, including fairground rides, is also planned for the event, and a prize will be awarded for the best Coronation-themed cake submitted by 2:00pm on the day.

The Council’s website will have further event information available nearer the day, and you can rest assured that A Little Bit of Stone will share the details when they are made public.

Please contact the Council on 01785 619740, or email to clerk@stonetowncouncil.gov.uk, if you want further information or would like to have a stall at the event.

Councillor Jill Hood, Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee, told A Little Bit of Stone:

“Come to Stone High Street on 7th May for the biggest party in town. With music, refreshments, and children’s entertainment, it will be a fun afternoon for all the family.”

Stone has a history of royal parties in the High Street, so it’s great to see the council turning the High Street into a focus for everyone in the town.

Please remember that if you’d also like to host your own party of the coronation weekend, Stafford Borough Council has waivered their road closure charges for residents wanting to hold a street party.
