Crown & Anchor named best bar none
The Crown & Anchor has been named the best bar in Stone and Stafford in a competition run by the borough council.
The Granville Square venue was a double winner, taking away the prize for ‘Best Bar’ and the town’s judges’ choice.
The judges’ choice for Stafford was club Couture & Noir et Blanc. The Yard and CASA, both in Stafford, walked off with the ‘Best Pub’ and ‘Best Club’ awards respectively.
Fourteen pubs and clubs went head to head for the ‘Best Bar None’ competition, which is designed to raise standards in premises in Stafford and Stone town centres and help reduce the amount of alcohol-related crime.
The venues were assessed by a team of officers from Stafford Borough Council, the county council, Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. The premises are scored on four licensing objectives which aim to increase public safety, reduce public nuisance, prevent crime and disorder and prevent harm to children.
The winners were announced at a special awards evening on Wednesday 5th October at the Stone House Hotel. All the venues were given BBN accreditation.
These venues from Stone took part in the competition: The Poste of Stone, Crown and Anchor, Granvilles, The Swan Inn, The Royal Exchange and The Three Crowns.
Stafford’s entrants were The Swan Hotel, The Bear Grill, CASA, Couture & Noir et Blanc, The Yard, The Picture House, The Litten Tree, Bear Grill, The Sun Inn,
