Work starts on The Wayfarer

Work has started on the empty Wayfarer pub on The Filleybrooks – and it could be open again in 12 weeks’ time.

The pub has been empty for around 18 months and in January this year thieves broke in and stripped it of pipes, wiring and a boiler. But it could be open again in time for Christmas.

Work on the main entrance

Owner Enterprise Inns got planning permission to make structural changes to the building – including a new canopy to the existing entrance and new mock mansard roofs to replace existing flat ones – from Stafford Borough Council at the end of August.

Permission was also granted to install solar panels in the roof.

I can confirm it is the owners of TSWTN owners that are taking it over. I’m not going to reveal my source but trust me I know. The swan is a great pub and do great food, I hope they transfer this ethos to the wayfarer.

    • Hi there. You’re spot on, it’s definitely going to be run by the owners of The Swan With Two Necks. Have a look at this post – https://alittlebitofstone.com/2011/09/13/swan-with-two-necks-takes-on-wayfarer/

  • Enterprise Inns? Sounds bad news to me.

  • I took have heard the rumours about TSWTN taking it over and would applaud that for a local pub. Do hope someone can confirm this.

  • It just doesn’t seem sustainable as a pub so definitely needs to be food focused.  We’ve always had excellent food a the TSWTN so I wouldn’t mind if they did take it over!

  • Hi Steve. I’ve heard these rumours too. Nothing official though…

  • Ok, so enterprise are doing some structural work but who is going to run it?

There have been many rumours about the owners of the Swan with two necks been interested,
and there is a colour test on the bay window which is very close to the S.W.T.Necks colours. Does anybody know?
