End of an era – St John’s Church in Granville Terrace

The final service at St John’s Church in Granville Terrace takes place at 6pm on Sunday 26th August, bringing an end to almost 150 years of worship in the building. A Little Bit of Stone was kindly allowed into the church earlier this week to take some photographs – and here they are. If you want to find out more about the history of the church, have a look at Philip Leason’s superb post HERE. And there’s more information about the closure and sale HERE.

All historical items in the church will be put into storage and from Sunday 2nd September the congregation will be meeting at Walton Priory Middle School. The future of the building is uncertain to say the least and it is still not known what will happen to it if and when it is sold.
