A herd of cows from the Common Plot in Stone took a wrong turn this morning and wreaked havoc on neighbouring Mount Road industrial estate.
Parents arriving at Giggles & Wiggles nursery found that there were around 30 confused cows gathered on the car park and heading all over the industrial estate, which also houses a Warburtons distribution centre and Lymestone Brewery.
Lorries were stopped as police, nursery staff and parents ushered the cows off the estate, along Mount Road and back on to the Plot.
Carly Louise was one parent who got involved. She said: “It was hilarious! The cows were so scatty and climbing up in to the undergrowth where we couldn’t reach them. Hannah and Amy from the nursery did a fab job and we all got a lift back in the police van!”
Stone PCSO Jenny Ludlow-Smith tweeted this photo this morning – and a steady stream of cow-related puns and jokes. You really should follow Jenny if you’re on Twitter – HERE she is

Rumours that the cows were heading for Lymestone Brewery for an early-morning pint could not be confirmed…
