Dishes created by the chefs behind Aston Marina’s renowned bistro, and five bottled beers from Lymestone Brewery, have been awarded stars in the 2015 Guild of Fine Foods’ Great Taste Awards – the benchmark for the finest food and drink in the land.

The Marina’s salmon, prawn and dill fishcake and chocolate tiffin both underwent blind taste testing under a judging panel made up of food critics, executive chefs, journalists and bigwigs in the food and drink industry. Each of the dishes was awarded a star, branding them ‘simply delicious’. Lymestone Brewery’s Stone the Crows, Foundation Stone, Stone Brood, Stone Dead and Abdominal Stoneman all received Great Taste Awards too.
Just 31% of the 10,000 entries that were submitted from across the country were awarded a Great Taste Award, so it’s a great achievement.
Director Helen Webb said: “To have our efforts recognised in one of the industry’s toughest awards is a real boost to the whole team at the Marina. It’s a reward for the hard work that goes in throughout the year and the fact that the team’s creativity is being judged by industry peers – who can be the harshest of critics – makes it all the more special.”
Ian ‘Brad’ Bradford from Lymestone Brewery added: “We’re absolutely delighted that five of our bottled ales have been recognised like this, especially as it’s the first time we’ve entered the competition. We’re really looking forward to getting ‘Great Taste Award’ stickers on the bottles!”
