A service that supports young people in Stone to manage their emotional wellbeing is continuing to operate in the town after the charity that runs it secured funding to expand their vital work.
Changes YP has been running an award-winning peer support and wellbeing service in Stoke-on-Trent and North Staffordshire for the last 12 years. After running a weekly peer support group in Stone for the past few months following last year’s tragic events in the town, the charity has now been successful in getting funding to expand into Stafford and surrounding areas on a more permanent basis.
The FREE service offers young people between 16 and 25 a safe place to learn ways to manage their emotional wellbeing around like-minded people. They run wellness programmes, peer support groups, art, music and sport, training and volunteering and will soon be starting ‘Understanding & Managing Anger’ and ‘Managing Stress, Anxiety & Depression’ workshops.
A peer support group is running at Stone Community Fire Station, The Fillybrooks every Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Young people can simply just go along or contact Donna or Dan on 07936741316 or yp@changes.org.uk
The service is free, with no waiting list, open and instant access and there is no referral needed.
If you know of a young person in the town who could benefit from being involved, please share this with them.
