The CAMRA never lies! Some of Stone’s popular pubs have made it into the prestigious 2016 CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
Pubs that make the guide have been selected by CAMRA branches and the 175,000+ active members.
The guide says:
The Swan – ‘a thriving free house in a carefully renovated Grade II listed building with nine handpulls, serving anything from anywhere – the beer range can change daily. Four real ciders and bottled varieties are always available’
The Pheasant – ‘a real community focus hosting numerous local activities, as well as offering more traditional pub games’
The Brushmakers at Oulton is also included and its no-nonsense, traditional approach applauded.
The Royal Exchange – ‘a one-roomed pub with four distinct drinking areas and real fires at both ends’ – all get a namecheck, and deservedly so.
Also worthy of inclusion are nearby The Green Man at Milwich – ‘this free house offers guest beers from regional and local brewers, and is popular with walkers and cyclists visiting the area’ and Lymestone Brewery’s Newcastle watering hole, Lymestone Vaults – ‘opened at the end of 2012 and was an immediate success with the real ale drinking populace’.
Well done to all. Cheers!
