More than 150 invited guests including Stone Mayor Councillor Mike Williamson, local businesses and loyal customers were treated to a taste of Italy at an official launch event to mark the refurbishment and reopening of High Street restaurant Pasta Di Piazza Italiana.

Councillor Williamson officially opened the restaurant and guests enjoyed an authentic Italian experience with a welcome ‘guard of honour’ created by Italian scooters, Italian music from Tony Fellini and a three-course Italian menu created for the evening.

The restaurant has undergone a complete facelift following a £750,000 investment into the business by owner Jigar Gheewala. This has included the addition of a landscaped outdoor space and a new conservatory which means the restaurant can now seat around 180 diners.

Restaurant manager Antonio da Silva said the new look for the restaurant had already been well received by customers since reopening last month, and he was delighted with the support the restaurant has received from the local community.

“The team here were very excited about the changes which were being made, but it has been lovely to hear such positive comments from everyone who attended the evening – not only about our new look, but also about our food which we have always taken great pride in. Pasta Di Piazza Italiana has been a part of Stone’s lively food culture for many years, and this investment will ensure we remain at the forefront of that for many years to come.”[/box]
