Local mum Kerry Dawson opens online “Free Range Kidswear” store selling quality affordable clothing, with free local delivery!
A Little Bit of Stone caught up with Kerry to discuss her new venture:
“I’m a local mum who has lived in Stone all my life and have 3 whirlwind children, who seem to go through clothing at a rate of knots! I’m actively involved in local youth organisations and currently work for a family business in Fenton. My plan is to run the online shop around my other commitments initially but hope day to progress to a market stall and then if things go well in the long run, a physical store in the high street.”
Kerry told us about the background of the business:
“I’ve been involved in Scouting for several years and as a parent fully understand the difficulties faced by local families when it comes to finding good quality, affordable clothing. With the loss of the local bus services and the difficulties faced by parents who don’t drive I knew that an online offering with free local delivery would really appeal.Earlier this year my daughter needed new polo shirts for school (growth spurts happen at the most inconvenient times!) and couldn’t find sky blue ones ANYWHERE! Eventually, I managed to find a pack in a supermarket out of town (in the boys’ section!)I thought it was a real shame that I wasn’t able to buy these essential kids clothing items locally so decided that I would start a shop that would have a regular stock of uniform basics, as well as casual clothing, underwear, socks and tights.I home educated my 6 year old son, and soon he will be too old to attend a childcare setting, so I want to build up the business and gradually expand the range of clothing on offer, so that I can continue to home educate.”
Kerry went on to explain:
“Free Range Kidswear offers a personal touch, and I understand the challenges faced by parents in the modern era. I will go out of her way to help people and to make their experiences as easy as possible. We will have the option of free local delivery (within 5 miles – more details on the website), free local collection, as well as an option to post. Thanks to a 24-hour online ordering system and a very supportive family – if your item is in stock and you opt for delivery/collection, you can have your item within a few hours.I am also launching a preloved uniform collection for all schools in the area, selling second-hand logo and basic items (especially useful if your child has a tendency to lose jumpers!)”
As an online business Free Range Kidswear is always open. Parcels will be posted within 48 hours of ordering and deliveries/collections can, in theory, be completed within a day.
The website store launches on 1st August 2019 and if they don’t have what you’re looking for in stock, you can contact them via email, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and they will do their best to find something to fit your requirements!
