Plans were submitted to Stafford Borough Council this week to flatten and rebuild the Shell Service Station on the A34 at Walton.
The submitted documents set out plans for the permanent removal of both the jet wash booths and the automated car wash, and in its place, the garage will relocate the HGV filling pumps over towards the former car wash. The Jetwash booths become parking with future provision for an electric vehicle charging point.
The canopy that covers the existing pumps is to be removed, increased in height and detached from the sales building.
The canopy on site is to be detached from the sales building, replaced and made higher to better meet the operational needs of the site.
The biggest change of all will be a 2.5 times increase in the floor areas of the sales building, increasing from 94 square meters to 237 square meters. The planning statement advises:
The replacement sales building will be modern in design, with a glazed front elevation, providing a light and spacious internal environment for customers and those working within it. Internally, there will be washroom facilities, including changing and disabled facilities, the required back of house space and storage space
Parking will be relocated from the rear of the existing sales building to the front with additional spaces where the car wash was, providing a total of twelve parking bays including one accessible bay.
