Stone residents have been reporting delays in post and missing deliveries after workers at Stone Royal Mail Sorting Office tested positive for Covid-19.
The base has undergone an intensive clean, and exposed workers are now shielding, but services around the area have been disrupted by the lack of staff.
Parcels are reportedly being sent to Stafford Sorting Office and sent out from there directly, normal mail services are being covered by the Stone office, but some residents are reporting having no deliveries for days
A spokesperson from Royal Mail Said said: “We takes the health and safety of our colleagues, customers and the local communities in which we operate very seriously.
“We have carried out an intensive clean of the site and have organised additional cleaning of key touch points and all communal areas. We are keeping the CWU and colleagues updated. Throughout this crisis, every decision we make puts the health of our people and customers first. We have a range of preventive measures in place to protect both our customers and our colleagues.
“As well as encouraging good hand hygiene, standard ways of working have been revised to ensure that colleagues maintain appropriate social distancing at all times. All staff have been briefed about the social distancing measures jointly agreed by local management and the CWU. This has been supplemented with visible reminders such as posters and one-way floor markings.”

Nothing here for a week. Expected half a dozen important different packages, no sign of postman. Can’t be that that difficult to reroute or hire third party company to deliver, pretty disgusting. It’s them thats messed up with social distancing, much like the rest of the clueless country

No mail here at Simeon way for a week, many parcel well overdue, no tracking information. No clue what’s going on 9 months of Covid and still no clue how to avoid it. Clean your parcels when you get them folks.

Post van just been in our road but nothing for us. Expecting 2 letters last week. Had no mail for almost a week now. Update from Royal Mail would be handy.
