Avison Young has this week published the listing of the ABB Stonefield Works site at the north end of Stone. Sandwiched between Oulton Road and Longton Road, the site has a footprint, according to the particulars of 9.87 acres.
In 2005 ABB submitted outline residential planning for the site, this was during the boom of the housing market – with the site being able to sustain approximately 150 dwellings. The outline planning permission was approved by Stafford Borough Council, however, after the financial crash in 2008, the site wasn’t sold to a housebuilder for development. A request for extending the planning permission was refused in 2010 and so any further developments for residential purposes would require fresh planning applications in line with the current Stone Neighbourhood Plan and the Stafford Borough Plan.
