A swap shop is being held in Stone on Saturday 13th November where people can take along unwanted items and swap them for something they do want.
Organised by Transition Stone, the Swap ’til You Drop event takes place at St Dominic’s Social Centre on Station Road from 10am to 2pm. On entry, people will be given a swap token for each item they bring, which enables them to ‘spend’ the tokens on other items. Everyone gets a free token on entry.
If you have items that could be collected before the day for starting stock, let Transition Stone know and they can be collected. Apart from electrical items, underwear and ear-rings, everything can be taken along to swap – clothes and accessories; books, CDs and DVDs; fruit and vegetables from the allotment. The list is endless!
Why swap?
- It saves money
- Reduces the amount of landfill
- Reduces resources and the energy required to make new garments and transport them to the consumer
- It’s a social event and there’ll be nice cups of tea available!
