A teenager who is hoping to raise £20,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust is holding a fundraising family fun day on Saturday 5th September.
Reece Marshall, who was a pupil at Christ Church Academy and was due to start at Alleyne’s Academy in September, was diagnosed with bone cancer (osteosarcoma) in January this year when he was 12. He’s had lots of chemotherapy and, recently, an operation to replace a knee and femur bone. His diagnosis came as the rugby-mad youngster found out that he was being scouted by Leicester Tigers.
Reece is being treated at the Royal Stoke Hospital and at Birmingham Children’s Hospital where, he says, the Teenage Cancer Trust has helped to make his life much better. He said: “The Teenage Cancer Trust are totally reliant on donations, this is why I am holding a fundraising event and would like everyone to come. The event is free admission and there will be lots happening to raise money, a day full of family fun and games.”
[box type=”info” align=”aligncenter” ]The family fun day is being held at Sunnyside Farm in Sandon (Butterhill Bank, ST18 0DT) from 11am to 5pm. There will be lots of stalls, a charity auction, vintage cars and tractors, tea and cakes, a bouncy castle and lots more.[/box]
If you can’t make the event, you can make a donation online at Reece’s Just Giving page – www.justgiving.com/reece-marshall12
