Stone childminder Stephanie Brown has made the final of Networking Mummies’ national business awards.

After finding it difficult to find and finance childcare to fit around her personal needs, Stephanie decided to set up her own business – Steph’s Childminding Services – in 2014. The business has made the final in the small business category.

[box type=”shadow” align=”aligncenter” ]She said: “With my children’s dad working shifts and working in a different town to my daughter’s school myself, I needed to rely on a family friend to help with childcare as no nursery was open before 7.30am.  When I became a single mum, I found I was seeing and caring for other people’s children more than my own, so took the decision to work from home. With 10 years’ experience in childcare, I knew the family make-up was ever changing, with fewer parents now working the traditional 9-5 job. So I decided to set up as a childminder and offer flexible childcare to suit families’ shifts and open longer days as well as weekends and overnight childcare.

“I run my childminding from home in Stone, with access to a park and a large rear garden, providing before and after-school childcare to Manor Hill First School and Walton Priory Middle School pupils.  As well as full school holidays, I am now in talks with local child focused businesses to provide workshops within the school holidays to give that bit extra to the children I look after.”[/box]

Stephanie’s paramount concern is the child, her flexible approach and times meets the modern day workplace conditions, parents can depend on her if they are late for pick up, or need an emergency arrangements made and shift patterns.
