The new Head of Economic Development and Planning at Stafford Borough Council has been announced.
Richard Lawrence succeeds Ted Manders, who has now retired.
Richard, 40, who is married with an eight-year-old son and five-year-old daughter, joins the authority from a similar role at Northampton Borough Council. He has around 20 years’ experience in both the private and public sector, delivering multi-million pound regeneration programmes.

“There is more than a billion pounds of investment either recently delivered, taking place at the moment, or on its way to this area – and I will be working hard to make sure that that growth continues and benefits our communities.”[/box]
Richard is originally from Kent, and worked in the South East on projects such as the Thames Gateway, Ashford Growth Area and coastal regeneration projects before moving to the West Midlands in 2008. He is a school governor and enjoys travelling, running, football and playing drums in his spare time.
Councillor Patrick Farrington, Leader of the Borough Council, said: “We are really pleased to have appointed Richard. He has a first class record in delivering major projects, and will be a great asset to our team and the whole borough. Our borough is currently going through major regeneration which will provide a real boost to the local economy with some exciting projects on the way. So it was important we appointed the right person to complement the existing team and help drive forward our plans.”
