Liz Quick, from Barlaston, will be honouring two husbands as part Douglas Macmillan Hospice’s Light up a Life campaign.
The remembrance campaign has been running 21 years, when Liz dedicated a light on the hospice’s Christmas Tree in memory of her first husband Winston, who passed away aged just 41.. She has also been a volunteer for Dougie Mac for over 20 years, helping out in the Fundraising department at events, as a Receptionist and as an Ambassador for the organisation.
Liz commented: “When I married my second husband John, we added another light on the tree for his late wife Nora. Now I’ve also added my dear John to my yearly lights on the tree. Though this can be upsetting and emotional for myself and my family, it’s so special to be able to remember these people and everything they meant to us all.”
Jennifer Peake, Individual Giving Manager added, “We’d like to thank Liz for sharing her story and for supporting the campaign for the past 21 years. Dedicating a light on the Dougie Mac Christmas tree is a tradition for so many local people this year; we’re hoping to have over 10,000 lights dedicated this year.”
