There’s only a few weeks left to nominate people and organisations from around Stafford Borough to be honoured in an awards ceremony.
Now in their second year, the Community Awards aim to recognise the efforts of local people, businesses, schools and other groups that help to improve the borough.
When the initiative was launched last year by Stafford Borough Council, it attracted around 50 entries. The awards are open to all people, groups and organisations operating within the borough with projects that have taken place within the last 12 months. The closing date for nominations and applications is Friday 7 September. The awards ceremony will be held in November.
Councillor Jeremy Pert, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “These awards celebrate many unsung heroes in our community. Those who go that extra mile to make our area a better place to live, work, and visit and often do it with very little thanks or recognition
“If you know of a person or a group that fits this category then please do not miss the opportunity to put them forward. This way they can be thanked publicly for all they do.”
The five categories for nominations are:
- Inspiring Individual (under 18)
- Inspiring Individual (18 and over)
- Action in the Community
- Youth and Education
- Business
