Local Young People with Parkinsons Group fundraise with Calendars

Stone and Stafford Younger Parkinson‘s Group have been raising money to help sufferers by selling a calendar containing picturesque scenes of the local area.

In the UK around 145,000 people were diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018, with around 1,750 of those being under the age of 50. The progressive disease depletes dopamine, the chemical that is produced by the body to enable the nervous system to send messages between nerve cells. Dopamine helps us feel pleasure, and is a big part of our unique human ability to think and plan. It helps us strive, focus, and find things interesting.

It’s estimated that in the Stafford and Stone area approximately 1000 people aged between over 30 have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

The Stone & Stafford group is uniquely focused on younger Parkinson‘s sufferers. Keeping busy is important for those diagnosed, as it helps the body to naturally produce dopamine, and the group’s members are very active in fundraising to help maintain holistic support addressing the physical, mental and emotional health and well-being of their members.

The calendar has been created to promote the picturesque areas of Stone and Stafford. The photos have been taken and donated by a local photographer and 100% of the sales will benefit those diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, their partners, families and friends. The group relies on fundraising efforts such as these as they receive no funding from Parkinson’s UK.

I am 65 years old, I was diagnosed of Parkinson’s disease at the age of 59. I had severe calf pain, muscle pain, slurred speech, frequent falls, loss of balance, difficulty getting up from sitting position. i was on Carbidopa and Pramipexole for two years, as the disease progressed my symptoms worsened, with my neurologist guidance i started on natural PARKINSON’S DISEASE TREATMENT from Rich Herbal garden (ww w. richherbalgardens. c o m). The treatment worked very effectively for my Parkinson’s, most of my severe symptoms simply vanished within the first 3 months on the treatment, i feel better now than I have felt in years and i can feel my strength again. My neurologist was very open when looking at alternative medicines and procedures, this alternative Parkinson’s disease treatment is indeed a breakthrough.
