Stone Old Alleynians endured a tough afternoon on Saturday 8 November, falling 4–0 away to Lye Town in the Capelli Sport Midland Football League Premier Division.
The Old Boys trailed 1–0 at the break before the hosts added three more in the second half, leaving the visitors three places off the bottom of the table with two wins from fifteen matches.
Early chances for the Old Boys

Stone started brightly, putting the home side under pressure. A long throw from Will Holt caused early problems in the Lye box and soon after, a corner forced goalkeeper Gael Mafuamba to gather under pressure.
At the other end, a Lye free kick saw the Alleynians’ defensive wall hold firm, before goalkeeper Raajan Gill pulled off a sharp save from close range.

On 17 minutes, Devante Ramsey showed quick feet on the left, taking on his marker and forcing a low save, but Lye took the lead soon after. Their winger Callum McKenna found space outside the box and struck a crisp drive into the bottom corner to make it 1–0.

Lye take control
From there, the home side dominated possession and Stone’s defenders, including Matt Thomas and Sedgley, were forced into several desperate clearances.

After the restart, Lye doubled their lead when Luke Sidaway twisted past two defenders and finished neatly past Gill. Despite Gill’s best efforts to keep his team in the game, including pushing a fierce shot around the post, Lye continued to press forward.
Defender Elliott Ball made it three midway through the half, slamming home after Stone failed to clear a cross.
Brief rally and late blow
Stone showed fight, with chances falling to Sam Bowater and top scorer Jack Tomlinson, who chased a through ball but couldn’t beat the keeper.

Any hopes of a late comeback ended five minutes from time when substitute Ethan Moran added Lye’s fourth. The home side’s celebrations told the story of the afternoon.
