People in Stone can pay their respects to those who have died serving our country at the town’s service of remembrance on Sunday 11th November.
Wreaths will be laid from about 10.30am at the war memorial in Granville Square, followed by the two minutes’ silence at 11am. The assembled company – led by Stone Town Band – will then make its way through the town to St Michael’s Church for the service of remembrance. After the service, at about 12pm, Stone Scout and Guide Band will lead the parade back into the town centre, where it will be dismissed in Market Square.
The Women’s Section of Stone British Legion has organised the Poppy Appeal in and around the town this year. In 2011 they raised an amazing £26,000 and hope to match that figure again this year.
