The Heart of England in Bloom judges will be in Stone on Friday (5th July) to judge the town’s entry in this year’s competition – and they’ll see some great window displays in the High Street!
Businesses around the town centre have dressed their windows with a ‘Stone In Bloom’ theme – and the winners were announced yesterday.
First prize went to Tylmans of Stone in Granville Square…
with M-Viron in the High Street Arcade coming second…
… and Alison O’Mara florist on Radford Street getting third prize (thanks to Martin Robinson for the prize-giving photos). Town mayor Jill Piggott handed over the certificates.
Stone has won gold in the Heart of England competition for the last five years running – and last year won a silver gilt award in the national competition, the first time the town was entered into the UK-wide competition.

The Stone In Bloom volunteers have been working hard for months around the town, and this year took part in the RHS’s ‘Edible Britain’ campaign – you may have seen the mini allotments that have sprung up all over the place!
As usual, local schools and other groups have also been involved.
You can find out more about Stone In Bloom and get involved as a volunteer by visiting their website HERE.
