A34 delays warning as Redhill work starts

The site of Redhill Employment Park

People in Stone have been warned of delays on the A34 from Monday 14th January near Junction 14 of the M6 as work gets under way to create the Redhill Employment Park.

Redhill is sited off the A34, close to the M6 junction and the A5013 Beaconside roundabout. The start of the project will see lane closures on the A34 both north and southbound as the temporary site access is built.

Lane closures will be in place until mid-February. Following the lane closures there will be a contraflow system in place to keep traffic moving for a further 16 weeks which will include part-time signals.

Staffordshire County Council’s highways and transport leader Mike Maryon said: “We would ask people to bear with us while this work on the road is carried out and take into account possible delays to their journey. This will have great long-term benefits for Staffordshire but there will be some disruption in the coming weeks. This is one of the most significant business and regeneration projects being delivered directly by the county council and we want to see work started as quickly as possible.”

The employment park will be aimed at businesses in the research and technology sector, enabling them to set manufacturing and production units, and could create more than 2,500 jobs – more than initially estimated.
