A stretch of the dual-carriageway – between the Stone Business Park and Walton roundabouts – has been reduced to one lane while Severn Trent carries out installation work near the new Taylor Wimpey housing development. The lane closure is expected to be in place until 17th November and has already caused major tailbacks in the evening rush hours this week.

  • Further to a to and fro with Staffordshire Co Co I have asked them to explain why cones are left on the road at rush hour. They haven’t answered this but they have explained work doesn’t take place in the evening as it is dark and unsafe to work. What they have failed to respond to is the reason why the contractors fail to remove the cones and return the road to two lanes and why Staffordshire County Council aren’t checking this and enforcing on the contractors. I would imagine there are conditions attached to works and one of them surely must be that they return the road to two lanes each day. If they haven’t moved the cones this evening I will move them.
